Falling Star
Hope & Wonder
Hey, you. You made it through the day and now it is time to mello. Let’s slow down…and breathe.
XXX: “What is a falling star?”
It’s the kind of question that only comes at night, when the world is quiet and the sky is listening. Let's discover together.
First, let’s start by getting our wiggles out. Go ahead and wiggle.
That’s right–your toes and arms, your fingers and legs. Wiggle them up and down and all around. Now settle those wiggles into a snuggle. Take a deep breath in, feeling your body fill with calm.… breathe out, as you exhale whisper to yourself, ‘I am safe.’ Inhale again… and feel love fill your body. Whisper, ‘I am loved.’
With one more deep breath, your imagination is ready. So let’s begin our adventure…
Tonight… the sky has a secret just for you.
Up we go.
Floating above rooftops, trees, and clouds…Rising into the hush of space, where the stars are waiting. One star in particular… is yours. It’s been watching over you your whole life.
It might not be the biggest or brightest, but it remains steady. Glowing with a kind of love that never fades.Tonight, your star is part of something spectacular.
This is the peak night of the Perseid meteor shower. A night when Earth drifts through the dusty trail of a comet called Swift-Tuttle. Stars will scatter across the sky, nearly one per minute.
This comet passed by long ago, leaving tiny bits of space rock behind…And now, every year in August, our planet passes through its trail.
As those tiny pieces pass through our atmosphere, burning bright, becoming shooting stars.
That's what a shooting star really is!
It’s not actually a star at all. Just a tiny speck of dust or rock floating in space. Sometimes as small as a grain of sand, left behind by a comet long, long ago.
Now it is a flicker of light…
But full of magic, full of wonder. And tonight, the sky is full of them. Thousands of them.
Each one a wish. A story. A dream streaking across the sky.
Imagine you’re floating beside your star, watching the show unfold amidst the inky darkness.
The night is vast. And you…are not alone. Imagine all of the other faces turned up towards the night sky. Hearts collectively beating quietly, eyes filled with wonder.
Just…Like…You.
Feel that closeness as you breathe deeply. In….and out…In…and out…Feel how connected we all are, to each other, to this earth, to the stars beside you.
Some meteors fall fast, quick and bright, like sparks of shared laughter filling the night.
Others stretch across the sky, lingering like a memory you hold close to your heart.
Each one holds something for you…A secret wish. A hope in your heart. A reminder that you are a part of something so much bigger. Hold that thought in your heart and mind.
Breathe in…1…2…3…let in the wonder.
Hold
Breathe out…3…2…1…let go of the day.You don’t have to do anything.
Just float.
Just be.
Your star will keep watch while you sleep. Holding space for every part of you.Let your dreams drift with the stardust.
Let the falling stars carry you into rest. You are safe.
You are loved.
You are starlight.Goodnight, little one.
Sleep beneath the sky of wishes.
