Hey there! I’m Joe—a one-time actor turned playwright turned screenwriter turned novel-writing coach turned English teacher turned meditation-writing audio producer!
Yes, I know–life is a journey, okay?
My career has been a wild mashup of dramatic stage exits and script scribbles, along with guiding nearly 500 kids to become published authors. In my mind, there’s nothing more powerful than encouraging young people to harness their imaginations in new ways, and that’s exactly what my talented partner Cassie and I plan to do here.

As a mother of five endlessly curious children, I’ve spent over 20 years sharing the magic of stories—reading countless books to my own children but also to so many others through my work as a teacher. With a master’s degree in education focused on literacy, I’ve dedicated my life to helping children find their voices and bring their wildest ideas to life. As the CPO and Director of School Partnerships at Written Out Loud, I have the joy of guiding young storytellers as they turn their imaginations into published books.
Now, through the Mello podcast, I get to dabble in voice-over work and writing meditations alongside the incredibly talented Joe Skoff, we’ve found a way to bring these passions to life.
Whether it’s through whimsical bedtime meditations or guiding children through their big emotions, my goal is to help little minds pause, breathe, and dream big.
It all started when Cassie’s five-year-old daughter, kept asking for the weirdest bedtime meditations—like, “What’s it like inside a cow’s stomach?” or “What's it like to be a worm?” Instead of saying, “Uh… maybe just count some sheep?” we leaned in, got creative, and Mello was born!
We believe mindfulness should be fun, imaginative, and something kids actually want to do. Every episode takes listeners on a dreamy adventure—whether it’s floating through space, diving into the deep sea, or yes, working our way through a cow’s stomach to become–*cough*--fertilizer, our curiosity never leads us astray.
When we’re not making Mello, you’ll probably find us geeking out over sound design, drinking too much coffee, or brainstorming the next wild meditation idea. (Got one? Send it our way!)
