Hi there. I’m so glad you’re here today.
Today’s journey is meant to be shared. We’re going to imagine a place that’s always safe. A place you can visit when you’re feeling a lot, a space to feel calm.
So grown-ups, sit right beside your little ones–you can also lay down if that’s more comfy. Maybe you’re side by side…or snuggled up. Wherever you are, feel that warm closeness. Take a moment to notice that feeling.
Let’s start with taking a breath together. Breathe in like you’re smelling warm pancakes…and breathe out like you’re blowing a candle.
Once more…in…and out…try to match your breaths.
Now close your eyes, as we imagine something special. Something only you can see.
You’re standing underneath a giant, friendly tree. The trunk is wide and strong. Leaves shimmer overhead like tiny amber stars. There’s a wooden ladder built into the side. And at the top…a hidden treehouse made just for you.
Grown-ups and kids…this is your shared space.
Let's climb up together…One step…two steps…each step brings you a little higher, the breeze gently swaying the branches.
You reach the top and pull open a little door…and there it is. Your treehouse.
Next to the window, a comfy couch, broken in through years of snuggling, sits by a lamp. Perfect for reading adventure stories while you listen to the rain.
Light filters in through a stain glass window, hitting the floor like scattered rubies and emeralds which blink with the shifting leaves…
What does it look like inside? What would be perfect for you?
Take a moment to whisper one thing you see inside: kids, you first.
(music and sounds)
Hmmm…nice. Grown-ups, your turn…
(music and sounds)
Now, find your favorite spot inside the treehouse…and sit side by side, admiring the light filtering through the windows…
Listen closely…what do you hear?
(Sounds of birds, wind, etc)
This is a place where you are always safe. A place where love always has a home. A place waiting for you.
Grown-ups, put your hand gently on your little one’s back, or hold their hand. Feel that connection. How real this place is.
Now, kids: if there’s a worry you’ve been holding on to, or a part of your day that was hard, or anything you want to share…you can leave it here. Not forever, but just for now.
Maybe it becomes a feather and floats into the corner. Maybe it becomes a leaf and drifts out the window. Whatever it is, it’s safe here.
And grown ups…if there’s something in your heart too…you can let that go here too. It’s okay.
This space is beautiful, and made so strong by the bond you share. You can visit this spot if you’re anxious, or worried, or just want a calm spot where you can breathe.
Before we go, take one last look around. Whisper something kind to the person you’re with.
(Music and sounds)
You’re together, safe, in this space you both have created.
Whenever you’re ready, gently open your eyes.
